Supporting Mothers and Newborns

A caring start for mothers and babies.

The Grace Programme is Lumera's programme for mothers and newborns. It was created to provide practical support during one of life's most important moments.

We believe every mother should begin parenthood with dignity, and every newborn should have a safe and caring start. Through carefully prepared care kits and partnerships with hospitals and local communities, the programme provides essential support where it is needed most.

Our work is based on compassion and respect. Every care kit is more than a collection of useful items. It is also a reminder that no mother should feel alone during this important time.

As Lumera grows, we hope to reach more hospitals, support more families and build partnerships that improve care for mothers and newborns in communities with limited resources.

Our First Project

Makumbe District Hospital – Maternal Ward

On 15 July 2026, Lumera completed the first Grace Programme delivery at the Maternal Ward of Makumbe District Hospital in Zimbabwe.

We delivered 50 Grace Mother and Baby Care Kits containing essential items for mothers and newborns. Eleven mothers received their kits during our visit. The remaining kits were left with the maternity ward for mothers admitted after our team had left.

This delivery marked the beginning of the Grace Programme and showed Lumera's commitment to practical care delivered with dignity and compassion. Our volunteers, artisans and supporters made the project possible by helping turn the idea into real support for families.
